Electro-hydraulic remote-controlled valve actuation

EHS – Electric Power – Hydraulic Transmission

…a perfect combination!

The EHS system is designed as a decentralized system that offers an alternative to conventional centralized hydraulic systems. Each EHS forms a self-contained unit. The connections between the actuators and the control system are exclusively electrical. It combines the advantages of the hydraulic system, and the electro-hydraulic actuator unit perfectly reduces installation time.

EHS – Designed for all requirements

Compact and effective!

The EHS system is approved by the classification societies ABS, BV, DNV-GL, LR, and RINA. The electro-hydraulic EHS system for Pleiger rotary actuators and linear actuators of the STK (rotary actuator) and PVK (linear actuator) series was developed for the remote operation of butterfly valves, ball valves, and globe valves.

Different actuator types are available for various applications:

  • EHS-D3 – double-acting rotary actuator, open/close and continuous
  • EHS-SG – single-acting rotary actuator, open/close with spring return
  • EHS-S/G – Single-acting linear actuator for open/close with spring return
  • EHS-Q – Electro-hydraulic actuator unit for separately installed rotary or linear actuators
  • EHS-EX – double-acting and single-acting rotary or linear actuators in explosion-proof design
  • EHS-UM – double-acting rotary actuator for permanent submerged operation, open/close and continuous

PLEIGER Control Loop (PCL)

EHS Data Fieldbus System

PCL is a power-and-data fieldbus system for controlling and monitoring EHS actuators, pumps, tank level sensors, etc.

The PCL system significantly simplifies electrical installation. A single cable provides power supply and data communication. Connecting all actuators and I/O nodes via a simple cable loop saves a significant amount of cabling and wiring effort.

  • For all types of EHS actuators
  • I/O modules for tank gauging, pump control, etc.
  • Up to 250 nodes can be controlled by one bus master
  • Each bus master provides up to 8 data loops and up to 8 power loops
  • Connection to the higher-level control system via redundant Modbus RTU interface
  • Single-fault-tolerant system
  • No more than 2 nodes are affected by a single fault, even in the event of an interruption or short circuit of data or power lines
  • All faults are displayed and localized
  • Redundant bus masters run in hot standby
  • 7″ PLD monitor with touchscreen for emergency operation and settings
